2009. Various compact HiFi systems,
wire, cable, solder.
[sizes variable]
In response to the mass-manufactured
appearance of the materials used for sound reproduction in hi-fi equipment, and
the increasing non-materiality of recorded music, a series of compact
CD/tape/radio systems were inverted. The reconstructed objects became increasingly
wearable, with mk3 being the most ergonomic, allowing the operator an extreme
proximity to the controls and speakers. The vulnerable circuit boards and
components are exposed outside, like body parts outside the skin, the bundles
of cable symbolizing a sort of external nervous system.
